About us

Whilst the Goodwin Built company may have only been founded by Husband and Wife team Michael and Emma Goodwin in 2020, the Goodwin name has been serving the Nambucca Valley since arriving in Bowraville in the late 1870's. The original Goodwin pioneers were timber getters harvesting various timber species  through out the area with little more than an axe in hand, providing the much needed materials to build the infrastructure the newly established towns and villages required. 

In the 1970's Michaels father Laurie Goodwin started his building career in the Nambucca Valley building quality new homes and completing stunning renovations in a career that spanned over 50 years. During this time Michael completed his apprenticeship  under the watchful eye of his father Laurie, who taught him the values of quality workmanship and being a fair and honest tradesman in the local community. Working together for over 20 years, Laurie and Michael forged a reputation in the Nambucca Valley for providing quality building works. 

In 2020, Husband and Wife team Michael and Emma Goodwin formed the company Goodwin Built Pty Ltd. The company name was chosen for a reason and with a purpose. We take pride in our work, and we aim to deliver a quality project, have our clients enjoy the process and we couldn't put our name to something that doesn't achieve that. That's why we proudly call our company Goodwin Built, as we put our name on every project we complete. Our goal at Goodwin Built has always been the same, be the local builder that the community needs. 

In a day and age where more and more building companies are focused on volume rather than quality, Goodwin Built Is the opposite. Its a rare sight these days to see a true local Builder, the Builder that is still onsite, still wearing his nail bag and completing works with his own two hands. That's where we are different. 

We don't shop around for the cheapest out of town trades and compromise on quality. Michael is onsite most days with the nail bag on ensuring the works are completed to a quality standard. We only use trusted, local, reliable, quality trades on each and every project.

We shop as local as we can to ensure that your money spent with us goes back into the local community to keep our local economy strong. We believe that this is important for our community in the current times. 

We don't send our plans to an estimator for costings or work on standard rates. Each project whether big or small is estimated accurately from the base right through to finish. Each and every item of material required, each and every hour of labour required, each and every trade costing required. No guesses, no hidden costs. 

We might not have a big fancy office and advertising team showing glossy brochures to potential customers, but we have something better. Something money cannot buy. We have word of mouth recommendations in our area. People know us, they know our quality of work and they know us as your true, honest, quality local Builder.
